Hello new friends! Welcome to Storytime Sarah! Did you know that in the first six years children learn at a much faster pace than at any other time in their lives? When a child is taught to read, (and read to) the process of learning has a profound influence on the entire functioning and development of the brain.
So why did I become a Children's Librarian? Simply put, I love to read, I have a passion for literacy and childrens literature had always held a special place in my heart. I hold an Associates Degree in Performing Arts, a Bachelors Degree In English Literature, a Masters Degree in Library Science and a PhD in storytime! (Ok, maybe that last one's not real, but it should be!)
I spent many years working in public libraries, and I loved ever moment of it. I developed a knack for collection development, I loved recommending books, developing programs and early literacy activities as well as achieving a near cult like following with my storytimes, (not to toot my own horn here.) But, as much as I loved being in a library your reach is only so far within your community and with such a passion for early childhood literacy one day the light bulb went off and voila Storytime Sarah was born!
I'm excited to share all of my favorite reads and recommendations with you and your family! Let's build your very own little library for you and your kiddos! Let's go find those great reads at your local library together. It's all about making reading fun for everyone, along with other great literacy activities, science, technology, art, math, engineering and so much more! So let's go have some fun and explore together!
